ERASMUS + KA2 PARTNERHIP ONLY SCHOOLS

TITLE: “The European Newsroom”

Learning/Teaching/Training Meeting  at  Liceo “Alessandro Manzoni” Caserta, Italia

Topic: Copyright issues, digital publishing and international cooperation for schools and students

      

9TH OCTOBER 2017 MONDAY

20-23 – Arrival in Caserta Train station-  Guests’ Accomodation in Bed and Break fast “L’Antico Cortile”

Pick up from the station to the accomodation

 

10 TH OCTOBER 2017 TUESDAY

8.30: Official welcome meeting with the school director, Mrs Adele Vairo, to start the activities. A visit in our school to show facilities to guests.

9.00-13.00: Workshop on the questions that students prepared beforehand and on the difficult copyright issues that a school or students might face. In Aula Magna of Liceo Manzoni

15.00-18.00: Workshop is continued in Linguistic laboratory

 

 

11^th OCTOBER WEDNESDAY

9.00-13.00: Documentary visit at webzine office “Fan Magazine” in Naples

Bus to Naples: 2 euro per person. Bus ticket to buy on board

 

Workshop on digital publishing channels with experts working for Fan Magazine.

15.00-18.00: Visit to Palazzo Zevallos – Naples: Documentary visit to the Exhibition “Le mille luci di New York”: Metropolitan pop art –  Andy Warhol , Keith Haring , Francesco Clemente, Jean-Michel Basquiat  , Julian Schnabel :

Workshop on spot: Some copyright aspects of art production: Did Andy Warhol need Marilyn Monroe’s or Campbell Soup’s permission to use their likenesses in his iconic paintings?

The excellent program offered by this current exhibition has given to the students the chance to think about the diverse source material the artists used to produce their provocative works: celebrated pop artists, such as Warhol and Clemente, created these images by nicking the work of others, without permission, and transforming it to make statements and evoke emotions never countenanced by the original creators. Despite this, the programme does not say a word about copyright. Can you blame the authors? Students have  reflected on this with the help and support of the exhibition curators.

12TH OCTOBER THURSDAY

9.00-12.00: Workshop in school: How establish a framework for evaluating students skills in visual literacy in upper secondary schools. We we will create a three level (beginner, intermediate and advanced) framework that aims to help the evaluation of upper secondary students in visual literacy.

 

14.00-18.00:

Pompei archeological documentary visit

Workshop on spot: Copyright and Cultural Heritage: preservation and access to works in a digital world

 Pompeii, the world’s most complete ancient city, offers a very rich built cultural heritage: the workshop has raisen questions about the relationship between valuable archeological cultural heritage such as Pompei  and copyright in the light of the fundamental and disruptive changes brought about by new and emerging digital technologies and which promise profound transformation in the future. With the support of archeological guide students have  explored the extent to which current copyright laws from Europe and beyond prevent or help the constitution of a centralized online repository of our cultural heritage. They also examined the  twin issues of the preservation of, and access to, cultural heritage and the problems copyright law creates and the solutions it can at the same time provide.

 

 

13th OCTOBER FRIDAY

9.00-13.00 Erasmus day in Aula Magna Liceo Manzoni (National Italian Agency Approved in the list of Erasmus days events authorized and advertised)

A Debate contest: students have competed and debated in English. Topic: Do copyright laws do more harm than good?

WORK SHOPS ACTIVITIES: storyboard and film a tutorial on the most pressing questions concerning students and copyright issues.

15.00-19.00 Caserta Royal Palace of the Bourbon Kings: Documentary Visit of Royal Apartments&Garden

Guided tour and Workshop on spot: How UNESCO protects world heritage sites against rampant piracy and low level of enforcement of copyright laws.

Committed to promoting copyright protection since its early days (the Universal Copyright Convention was adopted under UNESCO’s aegis in 1952), UNESCO has over time grown concerned with ensuring general respect for copyright in all fields of creation and cultural industries.

During the workshop, togheter with experts, students have reflected on the digital revolution tha has not left copyright protection unaffected. UNESCO endeavours to make a contribution to the international debate on this issue, taking into account the development perspective and paying particular attention to the need of maintaining the fair balance between the interests of authors and the interest of the general public of  access to knoledge and information

 

SATURDAY 14 OCTOBER

 

9.00-12.00 Workshop in Aula Magna

Storyboard and film a tutorial on the the ways schools and students can videojournalism for international cooperation.

 

17.00-19.00: Visit of Belvedere San Leucio (Caserta): Workshop: Copyright issues in the history

Inside the historical building complex, industrial archaeology comes alive.

Students have had a workshop on spot in the silk museum:

They have explored one of the anciest example of industrial production (end of XVIII century) and the copyrights laws that have been applied on silk artwork produced in san Leucio during Enlightment.
